SYNOPSIS

The nano-science and nanotechnology  are new philosophies  to induct another revolution in modern civilization.The nanomaterials have wide applications in various important fields like Medical Science , Biological science ,Agriculture, Surface Coating , Catalyst , Sensor ,Lubrication , Advanced  composite, water treatment, green fuel and many more technological fields . The major  breakthrough has been manifested in the targeted drug delivery and diagnostics . Many more new molecules has been converted to efficient drugs due to this novel protocol . It is effectively also made a revolution in diagnostics .The replacement toxic pesticides by green pesticides now is possible due to adaption of nanotechnology . The cheapest protected coating on metal has been successfully completed using graphene ( nanocarbon ). This allotrope has produced Super-composite with many matrixes for applications in various engineering sectors .Nanocatalyst  and photocatalyst is bringing a new revolution in chemical industries and water treatment . In this seminar I shall illustrate some of the above mentioned facts .

Photoelectrochemical Tandem Cells for Solar Water Splitting

SYNOPSIS

Solar water splitting is an attracting strategy for the generation of sustainable H2 energy vector from only sunlight and water. A dual-photoelectrode tandem photoelectrochemical (PEC) cell serves one of the promising platforms to fulfil this goal since it has an attracting theoretically efficiency close to 30%. However, major challenges including the incompatibility between photoanode and photocathode materials, integrated fuel forming catalysts, and electrolyte solutions as well as arduous preparation procedures of cell components limit the research on this kind of system. In this talk, I will demonstrate two successful examples on dual-photoelectrode tandem PEC cells by addressing the aforementioned challenges. Factors affecting the efficiencies of these tandem cells with respect to the performances of individual photoelectrodes will also be discussed.
